3 NIGHTS SORRENTO & 3 NIGHTS ROME
“When the world seems to shine like you’ve had too much wine, that’s amore…” We agree with Dean Martin and this famous song! And you know what else will make you feel amore? This trip to Sorrento and Rome! Monograms has handled your vacation details and made it easy for you to travel, so you can spend your time falling in love with Sorrento’s beautiful Old Town, Rome’s friendly people, the beautiful sea, and so much more. On this 7-day vacation, we’ve arranged your hotel reservations, sightseeing, daily breakfast, and transportation between Sorrento and Rome. Plus, we’ve arranged the services of a Local Host® in both cities. This “friend in the city” is there to answer questions, offer suggestions, help you personalize your trip, and help make sure your vacation is what you want it to be.
Your vacation begins when you arrive at Sorrento’s nearest airport, which is in Naples. We can pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your Sorrento hotel, so you do not have to deal with the hassles of airport transfers. At your selected hotel, your Local Host will greet you with a warm welcome and materials to familiarize you with the city. The next morning, after included breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your hotel for guided sightseeing with a local expert, someone who intimately knows the town, who will share inside stories, and who will tell you what it is like to live in this beautiful town. Sorrento offers everything to visitors—the sea, beautiful scenery, scenic mountain views, history, music, culture, and a relaxing atmosphere. On your guided tour, we’ll introduce you to this town and show you some of the historic places. Among the many sights, you’ll see the 14th-century Sedil Dominova building and visit the cloister of St. Francis Church. We’ve also arranged for you to sample limoncello, world-famous liqueur made from Sorrento’s lemons.
You’ll also enjoy a full day of leisure to explore on your own. Perhaps take an excursion to nearby Pompeii, where you’ll see how people lived in 79 AD before Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried the town. Perhaps take an excursion along the Amalfi Coast, where you’ll experience breathtaking views. You may just want to relax in Sorrento and shop for locally crafted inlaid intarsio woodwork, or sit at a café and enjoy the local specialties. Just ask your Local Host for some of the best places.
Then, it’s off to Rome via high-speed train. But don’t worry. We’ll pick you up at your Sorrento hotel; transfer you to Naples, where the train station is; and make sure you get on the right train. We’ll pick you up at the Rome train station and take you to your selected hotel as well. The next day, after included breakfast, your exclusive, guided sightseeing with a local expert includes the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, where you’ll view Michelangelo’s The Last Judgment. History comes alive as you hear the insider stories and visit the historic sights you’ve heard so much about—the mighty Colosseum, the amphitheater used for deadly gladiatorial contests; the Roman Forum, the political, social, and commercial center during the Roman Empire; and St. Peter’s Church and Basilica, the very church where the pope often presides.
On your free day in Rome, you have many opportunities. You may want to visit Rome’s catacombs, take a cooking class with a Roman chef, join one of the many walking tours around Rome, enjoy a ghost tour, sample local Italian specialties, and so much more. Just ask your Local Host for suggestions and help in arranging the activities and excursions you desire.
And did we mention your train ticket between Sorrento and Rome is first-class? Also, with Monograms, you receive VIP access, which means you get to skip the lines at the Vatican Museums, the Colosseum, and the Roman Forum! That means you save over four hours of time wasted in line.
