3 NIGHTS BUDAPEST, 3 NIGHTS VIENNA, 3 NIGHTS PRAGUE & 3 NIGHTS BERLIN
The Viennese waltz…it’s graceful, beautiful, and thoroughly enjoyable. Like the dance, we want you to waltz through Vienna—gracefully, beautifully, and with full enjoyment. And it’s not just Vienna…we also want you waltzing through Budapest, Prague, and Berlin. That’s why on this 13-day vacation we’ve arranged your hotel reservations, daily breakfast, sightseeing, transportation between cities, and transfers from/to your hotels to/from the train stations. Plus, a one-of a kind feature is the Monograms Local Host®, someone who can answer questions, offer suggestions, and help ensure your vacation runs smoothly. If they have no rhythm, they may not be able to waltz, but they will help you waltz your way through Budapest, Vienna, Prague, and Berlin.
In each city, your Local Hosts will greet you when you arrive. They will help you get settled and present you with materials to familiarize you with the city and to personalize your vacation. You can begin exploring on your own and the next day, after included breakfast, we’ll pick you up at your hotels for guided sightseeing with a local expert. In Budapest, hear what it’s like to live in this city that has change so much in recent years as you visit Heroes’ Square, built in 1896 to represent 1,000 years of Hungarian history, and take a drive to Fishermen’s Bastion, where you’ll see magnificent views of the city. In Vienna, the highlight of your sightseeing includes Schönbrunn Palace, where the Habsburgs spent their summers. Just wait until you see the opulence and luxury in this palace! We’ll also drive you by Prater park with its giant Ferris wheel, as well as other landmarks such as the State Opera House.
Prague’s historical core is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and your guided sightseeing with an expert Local Guide will show you some of its highlights. See Prague’s Hradcany Castle courtyards, dating back to the 9th century, and Staromestske Square, dating back to the 12th century. In Berlin, your guided sightseeing will include the Holocaust Memorial and Brandenburg Gate, which has stood at the center of Berlin since its completion in 1791. Your expert Local Guide will also be able to share with you what it is like to live in this country that is now reunited—with insights only a local can reveal.
In each city, you’ll have a full day to explore on your own. In Budapest, you may want to explore the Buda Castle District; purchase local specialties, such as paprika, at the Central Market Hall; or ask your Local Host for the best place to try Hungarian goulash. In Vienna, perhaps visit one of the many museums, take an excursion to the Danube Valley and Melk’s Benedictine Abbey, or just relax at a coffee house as you savor Sachertorte. Perhaps shop for souvenirs along Prague’s Charles Bridge, dating to 1357 and one of the oldest stone bridges in Europe; explore the Jewish Quarter, dating to 1096 and with Europe’s best complex of Jewish historical monuments; take a cruise on the Vltava River; or grab a Czech beer at a local haunt. Just ask your Local Host for suggestions on the best place to go. In Berlin, perhaps take a tour of Jewish Berlin; shop at KaDeWe, Europe’s largest department store; visit one of its many museums; or take an excursion to Potsdam, where the Prussian kings spent their summers.
And don’t forget…your vacation includes transportation by high-speed train (first-class) between the cities. We’ve included transfers from/to your hotels to/from the train stations, and even make sure you get on the correct train! Between the transfers and transportation we’ve included, the sightseeing and guides we’ve arranged, and the hotels we’ve booked, all you have to do is relax—and maybe brush up on your waltzing skills. Add the comfort of knowing you’ll have a Local Host in each city to help you feel at home, and you’ve got the vacation of a lifetime!
